Wir freuen uns außerordentlich bekanntzugeben, dass Claude Delangle, einer der bedeutendsten klassischen Saxophonisten unserer Zeit, seine Teilnahme an OVERTURE II zugesagt hat.

Claude Delangle wird sowohl am Dienstag, d. 17. Februar 2026, das Eröffnungskonzert im Großen Saal der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig mitgestalten, als auch am Mittwoch, d. 18. Februar 2026 im Abendkonzert in der Alten Börse zu hören sein.

Zudem gibt Claude Delangle an beiden Tagen Workshops für Studierende, die für interessierte Zuhörerinnen und Zuhörer zur passiven Teilnahme frei zugänglich sein werden.

Ein besonderes Highlight, das das Festival 2026 bereits jetzt bereichert!

Claude Delangle Confirms Participation in OVERTURE II

We are delighted to announce that Claude Delangle, one of the most distinguished classical saxophonists of our time, has confirmed his participation in OVERTURE II.

Claude Delangle will take part in the opening concert on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, in the Great Hall of the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, and will also appear in the evening concert on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, at the Alte Börse.

In addition, Claude Delangle will give workshops for students on both days, which will be open to interested listeners for passive attendance free of charge.

A very special highlight that already enriches the 2026 festival program!

OVERTURE II angekündigt: Termin steht – internationale Künstler bestätigen Teilnahme

Nach dem großen Erfolg seiner Premiere im Jahr 2024 wird das Internationale Festival für Klassisches Saxophon Leipzig im Februar 2026 erneut stattfinden. OVERTURE II bringt auch in seiner zweiten Ausgabe herausragende Musikerinnen und Musiker nach Leipzig und setzt die Idee eines international vernetzten Saxophonfestivals fort.

Besonders freuen wir uns, dass Prof. Henk van Twillert und seine Studenten der ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo Porto erneut ihre Teilnahme zugesagt haben. Die Ensembles Vento do Norte und Rosa dos Ventos begeisterten bereits 2024 mit außergewöhnlicher Virtuosität, musikalischer Präsenz und großer Ensemblekultur und werden auch 2026 ein zentrales künstlerisches Element des Festivals bilden.

Eine weitere wichtige und gute Nachricht ist die erneuerte Kooperation mit der Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig. Die Zusammenarbeit bildet das organisatorische und künstlerische Rückgrat des Festivals und ermöglicht Konzerte an einigen der schönsten und traditionsreichsten Spielstätten der Stadt.

Mit der Festlegung des Festivaltermins und den ersten bestätigten Künstlern beginnt nun die nächste Phase der Vorbereitung. Weitere Informationen zu Programm, Konzerten und Gästen werden in den kommenden Monaten veröffentlicht.

OVERTURE II Announced: Dates Confirmed – Henk van Twillert and Students from Porto Join the Line-Up, Cooperation with HMT Leipzig Renewed

Following the great success of its debut in 2024, the International Festival for Classical Saxophone Leipzig will return in February 2026. With OVERTURE II, the festival enters its second edition and once again brings outstanding international artists to Leipzig, continuing its mission of creating a vibrant platform for classical saxophone artistry.

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Henk van Twillert and his students from ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo Porto have confirmed their participation. The ensembles Vento do Norte and Rosa dos Ventos, who already captivated audiences in 2024 with their remarkable virtuosity and expressive ensemble playing, will once again be central artistic contributors to the festival.

Another significant milestone is the renewed cooperation with the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig (HMT Leipzig). This partnership forms the artistic and organizational backbone of the festival and enables performances in some of the city’s most beautiful and historically rich venues.

With the festival dates set and the first artists confirmed, preparations now move into the next phase. Further details on the concert programme and participating musicians will be announced in the coming months.
