🇩🇪 OVERTURE II Leipzig – Ein internationales Festival voller Klang, Begegnung und Inspiration 🎷
Mit der zweiten Ausgabe des Internationalen Festivals für Klassisches Saxophon OVERTURE wurde Leipzig erneut für mehrere Tage zu einem internationalen Treffpunkt der Saxophonszene. Künstler, Studenten und Publikum aus verschiedenen Ländern kamen zusammen, um die Vielfalt und Ausdruckskraft des klassischen Saxophons zu erleben.
Schon die Ankunft der internationalen Gäste – darunter Claude Delangle, Odile Delangle sowie Henk van Twillert mit seinen Ensembles Vento do Norte und Rosa dos Ventos – ließ die besondere Atmosphäre des Festivals spürbar werden.
Während der Festivaltage prägten Konzerte, Masterclasses, Workshops und Begegnungen das Programm. Studenten erhielten die Gelegenheit, mit international renommierten Künstlern zu arbeiten, musikalische Perspektiven zu erweitern und wertvolle Impulse für ihre künstlerische Entwicklung mitzunehmen.
Ein fulminantes Eröffnungskonzert im Großen Saal der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig setzte den Auftakt für eine Reihe außergewöhnlicher Konzerterlebnisse. Zu den besonderen Höhepunkten gehörten Konzerte an einigen der eindrucksvollsten Orte Leipzigs: in der historischen Alte Börse, im monumentalen Völkerschlachtdenkmal, im Festsaal des Altes Rathaus sowie in der traditionsreichen Thomaskirche.
Gerade diese Verbindung von Musik und historischen Spielorten verlieh dem Festival eine besondere Strahlkraft. Werke von Johann Sebastian Bach, romantisches Repertoire, moderne Kompositionen und neue Bearbeitungen für Saxophonensemble zeigten eindrucksvoll die stilistische Vielfalt dieses Instruments.
Neben den Konzerten bot das Festival zahlreiche Möglichkeiten zum Austausch zwischen Künstlern, Studenten und Publikum – ein lebendiges Netzwerk, das weit über die einzelnen Konzertabende hinaus wirkt.
Den Abschluss bildete ein zusätzliches Konzert in Berlin, bei dem das Ensemble Vento do Norte sein vielbeachtetes Berlin-Debüt gab und damit die musikalische Energie des Festivals über Leipzig hinaus trug.
OVERTURE II hat einmal mehr gezeigt, wie lebendig, international und inspirierend die Welt des klassischen Saxophons ist.

🇬🇧 OVERTURE II Leipzig – An International Festival of Sound, Encounter and Inspiration 🎷
With its second edition, the International Festival for Classical Saxophone OVERTURE once again transformed Leipzig into an international meeting point for the saxophone community. Artists, students, and audiences from different countries gathered to celebrate the richness and expressive power of the classical saxophone.
The arrival of distinguished international guests such as Claude Delangle, Odile Delangle, and Henk van Twillert together with the ensembles Vento do Norte and Rosa dos Ventos already set the tone for the special spirit of the festival.
Throughout the festival days, concerts, masterclasses, workshops, and artistic encounters shaped the program. Students had the opportunity to work closely with internationally renowned musicians, gaining new musical perspectives and valuable inspiration for their artistic development.
A brilliant opening concert in the Grand Hall of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig marked the beginning of a series of remarkable musical events. Concerts took place in some of Leipzig’s most impressive historic venues, including the elegant Alte Börse, the monumental Völkerschlachtdenkmal, the historic hall of the Altes Rathaus, and the world-famous Thomaskirche.
This unique connection between music and historic spaces created a special atmosphere throughout the festival. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Romantic repertoire, modern compositions, and new arrangements for saxophone ensemble demonstrated the remarkable stylistic versatility of the instrument.
Beyond the concerts, the festival created many opportunities for exchange between artists, students, and audiences, forming a vibrant network that extends far beyond the concert stage.
The festival concluded with an additional concert in Berlin, where Vento do Norte celebrated its much-anticipated Berlin debut, carrying the musical energy of OVERTURE beyond Leipzig.
OVERTURE II once again demonstrated how vibrant, international, and inspiring the world of classical saxophone can be.
